The spooky sequel to the classic Halloween film Hocus Pocus will premiere on Disney+ come 2022. Hocus Pocus 2 will take place 29 years after the original, nearly three decades after Max (portrayed by Omri Katz) lit the Black Flame Candle and summoned the three iconic witches. In this continuation, The Sanderson Sisters have been resurrected once again, this time appearing in Rhode Island.

Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy are back as the haunting trio, Winifred, Sarah, and Mary, respectively. This time, the witches find themselves in modern-day Salem, seeking revenge. And the only ones that can stop them are three high school students: Becca (Whitney Peak), Izzy (Belissa Escobedo), and Cassie (Lilia Buckingham).

Although a continuation for Hocus Pocus was announced in 2019, the original Sanderson Sisters, Milder, Parker, and Najimy were not confirmed to take part until May 2021. Joining the three returning Sisters, Doug Jones will also reprise his role of Billy Butcherson as a dead man from the first movie.

Fans are already excited about the original cast being reprised, but Disney went even further by announcing the addition of eleven new cast members for Hocus Pocus 2.

Along with the Peak, Escobedo, and Buckingham playing the parts of adventurous high school students, more stars in the new lineup include Tony Hale (Veep, Arrested Development), Froy Gutierrez (Teen Wolf), Sam Richardson (Veep), Hannah Waddingham (Sex Education), Juju Brener, Taylor Henderson, and Nina Kitchen.

Anne Fletcher, director of The Proposal and 27 Dresses, is set to oversee the project, and she has been vocal about her enthusiasm. “I am beyond thrilled to be involved in the sequel to a film that is as beloved as Hocus Pocus,” she said in a statement

With no set release date, Hocus Pocus 2 is scheduled to debut on Disney+ in Fall 2022.
