Although “The Only Heartbreaker” sounds like it would be yet another heartwrenching song in Mitski’s discography, fans are shocked to find that is pretty far from the truth. “The Only Heartbreaker” sounds like an 80s song that one would dance the night away to. In an interview with The AV Club, the singer reveals that her new album, Laurel Hell, will be a record that is “more uptempo and dance-y” because she “needed to create something that was also a pep talk.”

On November 9, Mitski unveiled the new music video to “The Only Heartbreaker.” Mitski is seen in a forest, and everything that she touches, wilts, or perishes. In one part of the video, Mitski finds herself surrounded by an inferno. As the song is certainly more uptempo than what fans are used to, the singer still utilizes dark imagery.

As Mitski has shared yet another new single and accompanying music video, the “Washing Machine Heart” singer revealed that her sixth studio album has a name and a release date. Laurel Hell will be released on February 4 via Dead Oceans. In yet more exciting news, the Laurel Hell tracklist has also been revealed.

Here is the tracklist:

1. Valentine, Texas

2. Working For The Knife

3. Stay Soft

4. Everyone

5. Heat Lighting

6. The Only Heartbreaker

7. Love Me More

8. There’s Nothing Left For You

9. Should’ve Been Me

10. I Guess
