With this announcement coming more than two years after its Season 3 run on Prime Video, fans are understandably thrilled about the news.

Wrapping up Season 3, Midge discovers that life on tour isn’t as glamorous as it seems. After oversharing on stage about pop star Shy Baldwin (played by LeRoy McClain), Midge seemingly loses her shot.

In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, creator Amy Sherman-Palladino gets candid about the turn of events in Season 3. “We fucked her up pretty good at the end of this season.”

Of all the drawbacks Midge has faced in her stand-up career, this one appears to take the largest toll on her. “But that’s what show business is,” Sherman-Palladino continues, “it’s one step forward, two steps back — that’s the life of a comic.”

The fourth season is set to pick up where the third season left off, providing some closure for all the unanswered questions fans have been asking. Switching from its previous format, the run time for Season 4 will be four weeks, with Prime Video releasing two episodes every Friday.

It’s 1960 and Midge is ready to “change the business” of stand-up. She says this to her manager, Susie (played by Alex Borstein), continuing to declare how will abstain from “opening act gigs” from now on. “I will only do gigs where I can say what I want.”

Along with the returning cast of Rachel Brosnahan, Tony Shalhoub, Alex Borstein, Marin Hinkle, Michael Zegen, Kevin Pollak, Caroline Aaron, and Luke Kirby, Season 4 will include appearances from Kelly Bishop, John Waters, Milo Ventimiglia, and Jason Alexander.

As of 2020, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is the winner of 20 Emmy Awards including “Outstanding Comedy Series,” three Golden Globes including “Best TV Series,” and many more. With all the support from critics and fans alike, the anticipation for Season 4 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is high.
