Jared Padalecki is producing a prequel to Walker on The CW.

Padalecki, 39, retired from his fifteen-year run as Sam Winchester with the end of Supernatural in 2020 and stepped right into the role of Cordell Walker in The CW’s Walker. The show has since become a top-performer for the network, with Padalecki’s lovable performance as Ranger Cordell Walker at the heart of it.

Walker: Independence’s prequel will have an impressive team of writers working alongside Padalecki, including Anne Fricke (Dynasty) and Seamus Fahey (Battlestar Galactica). These two have already contributed to the success of the expanding Walker universe with their work on the original series.

Walker: Independence will take place in the 1800s, centering around Abby Walker, a Boston woman who witnesses her husband's murder. She sets out on a quest for revenge, joined by a lost yet charming Hoyt Rawlins as the two make their way to Independence, Texas, and become consumed by their own turmoil and the drama of the town.
