Avril Lavigne Announces New Album Love Sux

CBS

Everyone’s favorite pop-punk princess is back. The “Sk8er Boi” singer announced the release date of her upcoming album, Love Sux.

Avril Lavigne has been in the music scene for two decades now. It is a rarity to have that longevity as a female artist in a genre that is often “male-dominated;” however, Lavigne continues to make big waves as there has been a huge resurgence of pop-punk music. The singer revealed her seventh studio album, Love Sux, is out next month.

As fans are impatiently waiting for February 25 to arrive, Lavigne shared the second single off the record: “Love It When You Hate Me” featuring blackbear. This track follows the same pop-punk edginess as “Bite Me,” the first single released back in November. Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker serves as co-producer on both tracks.

Love Sux is the singer’s first record under good friend Travis Barker’s label, DTA Records. She shared of working with Barker in a statement, “The first time we worked together was 15 years ago on my album The Best Damn Thing and I have really enjoyed watching him develop into the producer that he is today. We spent a lot of time writing songs and working on this record together, and signing to his record label felt like the perfect home for me and my new music.”

The Canadian singer spoke more about Love Sux in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. She states, “I wanted to make sure I wrote music that people could relate to. It’s about valuing yourself and knowing you’re enough. It’s really a love letter to women.”

We can not be more excited to hear more of Avril Lavigne’s Love Sux. The record also features collaborations with blackbear, Mod Sun, Machine Gun Kelly, and Mark Hoppus. Love Sux will be released on February 25 and is available to pre-order now.
