Beabadoobee has just dropped her newest single entitled “Talk,” which is expected to make an appearance on her upcoming album Beatopia, (pronounced Bey-A-Toe-Pee-Uh) to be released on July 15 via Dirty Hit Records.

“Talk” is another one of her signature rock-indie tracks, reminiscent of those in her last full album Fake It Flowers (2020) and the Our Extended Play EP (2021). It is only a snippet of the long-awaited Beatopia, which beabadoobee stated is named after the imaginary world she envisioned as a child.

She wrote the song after completing her first album and expressed her intentions behind the track in an unreleased press conference. She states, “This is the start of everything.” The song delves into what it feels like to indulge in the things that one knows are bad for them, which speaks to the underlying motivations of all individuals. At a certain point, beabadoobee envisioned it is inevitable to avoid those feelings of succumbing to bad habits. Furthermore, Tuesday was beabadoobee’s core obsession for the song as it is the perfect night, with just the right amount of chaos.

These spoilers can’t help but make us speculate whether or not beabadoobee will express moments from her childhood, as the name is an homage to those memories. Either way, there is a comforting nostalgia that comes along with all of her music, and “Talk” is no exception. Beabadoobee gives commentary on life’s simple moments, like those peaceful Tuesday nights.

Beabadoobee’s music video for “Talk” featured her own close group of friends, as well as 150 additional fans—which she encouraged her supporters to show up for on her Instagram. The music video is simple, yet stylistic, with bright colors and pointed camera angles, directed by Alexandra Leese and Luke Casey.

“Talk” embodies an addicting beat that immediately draws listeners in, as her vocals ease perfectly into the energetic blend of the electric guitar and drum melody. Beabadoobee will embark on her own performances, in addition to working alongside Halsey on her arena tour. This track will most definitely be a concert fan favorite for its bright and energetic aura. We can’t wait to hear more from the upcoming album.
