Harry Styles Shares New Music Video for ‘As It Was’

YouTube

Harry Styles is back. The “Watermelon Sugar” hitmaker dropped the lead single and accompanying music video to his forthcoming third studio album, Harry’s House, on March 31.

Styles released a colorful visual to “As It Was,” the first single from Harry’s House. As early as last week, the “Sign of the Times” singer announced the name of his third studio album. Harry’s House pays homage to Joni Mitchell’s seventh studio album, The Hissing of Summer Lawns, released in 1975. Mitchell has a track called “Harry’s House/Centerpiece” on the record. The legendary folk singer approved of Styles’ title choice, simply stating, “love the title.”

After the exciting news of a new Harry era, the singer would return with a music video directed by Ukrainian filmmaker Tanu Muino. In a press release, Muino recalls of Styles, “Directing a Harry Styles video was a bucket list dream come true for me as he’s my favorite performer. Shooting him was bittersweet as it was one of the happiest days of my life, but on the second day of the shoot, my country Ukraine was invaded so you can imagine the insane emotions we had while shooting. Me and my team from Ukraine poured so much love into this video and you can see it on screen. It will be a music video I will never forget and now I can happily retire.”

Harry’s House includes 13 tracks in total. Styles recorded the album in the UK, Los Angeles, and Tokyo between 2020 and 2021. He wrote alongside frequent collaborators Kid Harpoon, Tyler Johnson, and Mitch Rowland.
