New Maggie Rogers music is officially here. The “Give A Little” singer released the lead single and an accompanying music video to her sophomore effort, Surrender, on April 8.

After announcing the exciting news of a new album on the way last week, Maggie Rogers took to social media to share “That’s Where I Am.” The single was written and produced by Rogers herself and Kid Harpoon. The music video is directed by Rogers, Warren Fu, and Michael Scanlon. The singer writes, “featuring David Byrne + Hamilton Leithauser + Quil Lemons + khaite dream dress + the perfect spring day + nuns + Empire State Building.”

Rogers pays homage to New York throughout the video. The “Light On” singer studied at the prestigious New York University. She graduated from the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music in May 2016 with a degree in music engineering production and English. She went viral when Pharrell Williams hosted a masterclass at NYU, with Rogers being a student at the time playing what would become her biggest hit: “Alaska.”

The “That’s Where I Am” music video acts as a small New York movie, with Rogers delivering a show-stopping performance. She struts the streets of the Big Apple like she owns the city, giving Carrie Bradshaw a run for her money. She wears a stunning coat and scarf and runs into musical heroes, such as the Talking Heads’ David Byrne.

The finale showcases Rogers’ singing abilities once more, opting to perform an iconic rooftop concert by night. She wears a shimmering black dress, having the time of her life.
