Phoebe Bridgers Releases Music Video to New Song ‘Sidelines’
Phoebe Bridgers is back with new music. The “Moon Song” singer released an accompanying music video for the Hulu limited drama series, Conversations with Friends. The track is titled “Sidelines.”
In April, Hulu unveiled its latest show: Conversations with Friends. Based on the 2017 debut novel by Sally Rooney, the series was greenlit for 12 episodes. The drama intensely focuses on navigating through relationships and their inevitable consequences. Despite the messiness and problems that arise, Phoebe Bridgers’ angelic voice is here to repair some of the damage these characters inflict upon each other.

“Sidelines” marks Bridgers’ first original music since her 2020 Grammy-nominated record, Punisher. The album earned her three nominations for Best Alternative Music Album, Best Rock Performance, and Best Rock Song.
The singer’s voice effortlessly blends into the Sally cinematic Rooneyverse. The music video was made by Bridgers, Marshall Vore, and Ruby Rain Henley. It features Bridgers’ recording process while simultaneously cutting to various stills of the characters’ intertwining relationships.
Conversations with Friends comes from the same creative team behind the hit series, Normal People. The series’ director, Lenny Abrahamson, serves as an executive producer alongside Element Pictures’ Ed Guiney, Emma Norton, and Andrew Lowe. The series commenced the careers of Paul Mescal (Netflix’s The Lost Daughter) and Daisy Edgar-Jones (Hulu’s Fresh).
