Quinta Brunson proves once again that she is a force to be reckoned with. From her viral Buzzfeed videos to an ABC breakout, Brunson is seeing the fruits of her labor with her first Emmy win.

Up against series like Only Murders in the Building and Ted Lasso, Brunson won for her stellar Writing in a Comedy Series in the Abbott Elementary pilot. As Brunson was pronounced the winner, the camera pans to her, looking shocked and humble, surrounded by her husband and co-stars.

After giving her husband and co-star Chris Perfetti a quick hug, she headed to the stage in a stunning metallic Dolce & Gabbana gown to accept her award. She was completely unphased by Jimmy Kimmel’s antics and began thanking several networks for taking a chance on her. She also thanked her co-showrunners, Justin and Patrick, for “believing a tv show from four years ago.” She closed the speech by shouting out her family, including her dad, cousins, husband, and her “incredible cast and crew.”

Truly, Brunson’s win is well-deserved as Abbott Elementary is her passion project. In an interview with Desus and Mero, she mentioned that if Abbott Elementary did not work out, she would find a new career path because it was “the best thing” she’s ever written.

Well, it’s safe to say that fans and critics alike believe that mockumentary is one of the best comedies to cross our screens in a while. In its freshman season, the series broke records being the first to quadruple its MP35 ratings. The first 12 episodes went by so fast that fans are counting down the days until the season 2 premiere on September 21.
