Marvel fans can expect delayed releases for highly anticipated films Blade, Avengers: Secret Wars, Untitled Deadpool 3, and Fantastic Four.

From 2008 to 2022, Marvel Studios has become an expansive and complex film studio, creating one of the most cohesive storylines during this time by releasing 30 feature films. Like the real world, the Marvel Cinematic Universe wrestles with complex politics, power struggles, and emotional turmoil.

New teasers and releases send fans into a frenzy as they anticipate additions to these complicated storylines. Following the first two weeks of a new movie release, theaters are consistently packed full of ecstatic fans. In 2019, Avengers: Endgame surpassed Avatar as the highest-grossing film of all time. Many fans follow the release schedule very closely in hopes of being one of the first to watch the films. However, the upcoming release schedule will soon see unexpected delays.

Blade, initially set to premiere on November 3, 2023, will now be released on September 6, 2024. This decision follows director Bassim Tariq’s withdrawal from the film, which paused production. However, it will still feature Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali (Moonlight). Fans anticipate Ali to deliver an exciting performance as a vampire slayer in this action-packed film.

Fan-favorite, Ryan Reynolds, posted a hilarious teaser of what is to come for the untitled third Deadpool movie. Reynold’s witty sense of humor is part of what made the first two Deadpool movies a hit. The film will be Deadpool’s official entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The teaser revealed that Hugh Jackman will be reprising his role as Wolverine in the upcoming Deadpool 3. However, the release schedule change did delay the film, but only by two months. The initial release date was September 6, 2024, and the new release date will be November 8, 2024.

After two movies, Fantastic Four (2004) and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007), the upcoming Fantastic Four film will be the first in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unfortunately, little information is available about the film, but we know it also has a delayed release. Luckily, the February 14, 2025 release date gives both single and “boo’d up” Marvel fans Valentine’s Day plans they will love.

Additionally, Avengers: Secret Wars is the next film in Marvel’s first consecutive Avengers series. It boasts that the cast will include beloved characters such as Chris Hemsworth(Thor), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Mark Ruffalo(Bruce Banner/Hulk), Kathryn Newton (Cassie Lang), Dominique Thorne (Riri Williams), Johnathan Majors(Kang the Conqueror), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Anthony Mackie( Captin America), Benedict Wong (Wong), Xochitl Gomez(America Chavez), and Iman Vellani (Ms. Marvel). Previously set for November 7, 2025, it will now debut on May 1, 2026.

Although these delayed releases are disheartening, fans need not fret, as many Marvel feature films are set to be released in the meantime. Between the end of 2022 to mid-2024, Black Panther: Wakanda ForeverGuardians of the Galaxy 3The MarvelsCaptain America: New World Order, and Thunderbolts (in chronological order) will hit theaters. You can watch the trailer for the upcoming film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which will debut on November 11, 2022, below.
