Keanu Reeves Might Reprise His Role as John Wick in New Ballerina Spinoff
The Matrix actor Keanu Reeves is in talks to appear as famed assassin John Wick in Ballerina. The project is described as a “female-centric spinoff” of the popular John Wick action franchise.
Earlier this week, Blonde actress Ana de Armas teased fans about her latest role. She posted a mirror selfie of her getting her hair and makeup ready for Ballerina. She writes, “Yesterday was our first-day shooting Ballerina, and it was awesome!”

The spinoff, Ballerina, “follows a young female assassin (de Armas) who seeks revenge against those who killed her family.” The project has a similar plot to John Wick, the 2014 action thriller that followed former assassin John Wick (Keanu Reeves). Wick is left with no choice. He decides to come out of retirement after men break into his home, steal his car, and kill his beloved puppy, one of the last gifts he had received from his recently deceased wife (Bridget Moynahan).

The John Wick universe continues to grow and flourish. Reeves has starred in the titular role since 2014, generating four installments. The franchise has seen many famous faces, such as Halle Berry, Anjelica Huston, Bridget Moynahan, and Ruby Rose. In addition, the fourth film will have singer-songwriter Rina Sawayama making her feature film debut.

Ballerina‘s plot continues to be kept under wraps, but Ian McShane, who plays Winston, is attached to star. Basil Iwanyk, the Ballerina producer, states, “We’re thrilled to have Ian McShane joining us for a pivotal role in Ballerina. He’s been such an integral part of the franchise since the original John Wick. It’s been fun to have him on this journey as the Wick universe expands.” If Reeves closes a deal, it is unclear how his role with function in the spinoff.
