Daniel Kaluuya will bring his British charm to Brooklyn in the sequel of the Oscar-winning animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Kaluuya’s body of work boasts countless standout roles in films such as Get OutQueen and Slim, Nope, and Judas and the Black Messiah. Although new to animated films, his phenomenal acting talent guarantees a performance fans will surely love. Kaluuya and the Spider-Verse saga have the Oscar-winning title in common, but he has also earned an Emmy nomination and BAFTA awards.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Kaluuya stars as Hobart Brown, aka, Spider-Punk, a homeless teenager and hero to the oppressed New Yorkers in his universe. Writer Dan Slott and artist Olivier Coipel introduced Spider-Punk to Marvel Comics in 2015. Since he is a relatively new character, Kaluuya has room to mold him into another well-liked Spider-Man.

The first look into part one of the saga shows a reconciliation of Brooklyn’s friendly neighborhood superhero, Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), and Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfield). Although the bulk of the plot remains a mystery, the romantic tension between the two seems to be a starting point. However, they will not be exploring the Spider-Verse alone. A new set of spider people will help them fight off their biggest enemy, The Spot.

The trio Justin K. Thompson, Joaquim Dos Santos, and Kemp Powers co-directed the film set to hit theaters on June 2, 2023. Fans who miss this film can join the festivities for the final part of the trilogy Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse in March 2024. Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Christina Steinberg collaborated to produce the film. Kaluuya is the perfect addition to an already amazing cast, including Shamiek Moore (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), Hailee Steinfield (Hawkeye), Oscar Issac (Moon Knight), Brian Tyree Henry (Eternals), Issa Rae (Insecure), and many more.

Fans should prepare for epic action and fun in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The battle of the most daunting villain and new spider-verse friends amps up the excitement of the release. However, fans must remember the fun does not end here. If you have not started your journey into the Spider-Verse yet, begin by watching Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
