Phoebe Bridgers Shares New Cover of ‘So Much Wine’
It is a Phoebe Bridgers Christmas. The “Moon Song” singer released a cover of The Handsome Family’s “So Much Wine,” just in time for the holiday season.
Phoebe Bridgers returns with a new cover in hopes of benefitting charities near and dear to her heart. It is the season of giving, and Bridgers’ vocals provide fans with a soothing listening experience. This has been an ongoing tradition for the singer since 2020.
Bridgers began this tradition when she released a four-track EP titled If We Make It Through December. The EP contains songs “If We Make It Through December,” “7 O’Clock News/Silent Night (ft. Fiona Apple), “Christmas Song” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” The EP’s proceeds went to the Downtown Women’s Center in Los Angeles, an organization that “strives to serve and empower women experiencing homelessness and those formerly homeless.”
Last year, Bridgers performed Tom Waits’ song, “Day After Tomorrow.” All proceeds for the singer’s cover went to the Local Integration & Family Empowerment Division of the International Institute of Los Angeles, which supports immigrants, refugees, and low-income workers in the city.
As fans anxiously anticipated what she would cover next, Bridgers took on the track, “So Much Wine.” The single features “fiddle, whistling, and vocals from Andrew Bird, as well as vocals from organist Ethan Gruska, guitarist Harrison Whitford, and actor Paul Mescal.” For those who stream the song, proceeds will go to Los Angeles LGBT Center.
