The sequel to 2019’s Shazam! still finds Zachary Levi and Asher Angel reprising their role as Billy Batson, aka Shazam, trying to save the world. The second trailer highlights the power of Helen Mirren’s villainous character, Hespera, one of the daughters of the Greek god, Atlas.

The trailer opens with a voiceover by Mirren, who states, “We are at war. We will annihilate everything. The champions of the realm can do nothing to stop us.”

The sequel film will focus more on the “Shazamily.” Billy’s foster siblings all possess superhero powers, thus coining the term “Shazamily.” The family is based in Philadelphia, coming together to utilize their talents. The sibling cast includes Jack Dylan Grazer and Adam Brody as Frederick “Freddy” Freeman, Ross Butler and Ian Chen as Eugene Choi, Meagan Good and Faithe Herman as Darla Dudley, and Grace Fulton as Mary Bromfield.

Apart from Zachary Levi, Helen Mirren, and the sibling cast, other members of the film include Lucy Liu (The Set Up) and Rachel Zegler (West Side Story). Liu will star as Kalypso and Zegler will as Anthea, the daughters of Atlas alongside Mirren’s, Hespera. Djimon Hounsou is also reprising his role as the ancient wizard, Shazam.

The synopsis for Shazam! Fury of the Gods states, “Billy and his family are thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of their world.” Levi describes the upcoming film as “wiser, stronger, faster, funnier,” and “overall cooler.”

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is ready to take fans on an epic ride. The film will arrive in theaters on March 17. The trailer is available to watch below.
