Kristen Stewart (Spencer) is joining Michael Angarano’s road-trip comedy, Sacramento. Angarano will also be in the film alongside Stewart, Michael Cera (Juno), and Maya Erskine (Pen15).

Sacramento follows “Rickey (Angarano), an energetic and free-spirited young man, and Glenn (Cera), his long-time friend who’s settled into domestic life. On an impromptu road trip from Los Angeles to Sacramento, their past comes into focus, and question their future.” Erskine is cast as  Rickey’s wife, Tallie, and Stewart is Glenn’s wife, Rosie. Yes, that is right, Kristen Stewart and Michael Cera will act as husband and wife.

In addition to these stellar cast members, AJ Mendez (Blade Of The 47 Ronin), Iman Karram, (Daft State), and Rosalind Chao (Mulan) have also joined the film. Mendez and Karram are best friends and ex-professional fighters who help teach Rickey and Glenn about their own relationship.

Angarano, who is making his directorial debut with Sacramento states, “We feel grateful and very excited to make a movie like Sacramento. Chris Smith and I started writing this film years ago after a pilot of ours didn’t get picked up. We’re honored to be working with this wildly talented cast and crew led by Stephen at Bee-Hive who is not only a great partner, but a true collaborator. It’s already been quite a journey but we’re finally ready to go make a movie.”

All cast members are booked and busy ahead of this film. Angarano (This Is Us) will appear alongside Christopher Nolan’s star-studded Oppenheimer cast and the Western film, Horizon. Stewart is starring in the A24 thriller, Loves Lies Bleeding and is slated to begin production on Sontag.

Michael Cera is currently starring opposite Amy Schumer in the Hulu series Life & Beth. He is also embodying the role of Allan in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie production. The film hits theaters on July 21. Pen15 co-creator and star Maya Erskine is currently adapting Leila Slimani’s novel, The Perfect Nanny, for HBO as a limited series starring Nicole Kidman. She is also filming Prime Video’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith series reboot.

Sacramento will undoubtedly be a funny, feel-good movie. In the meantime, fans can watch the Barbie trailer now.
