Drag Race fans woke up to a surprise this morning when the series released the promo of its upcoming All Stars season online. The upcoming season will be the eighth season of All Stars. This season, 12 beloved fan favorites will take the stage to compete to join the Drag Race Hall of Fame.

This will be the first traditional season of All Stars since season 6 when Kylie Sonique Love made history as the first trans winner. Season 7 was the first ‘all winners’ season, in which each participating queen had already won their respective season of Drag Race, and Jinkx Monsoon took the crown. This time around, the participating queens will have a chance to make their first win in the franchise.

A video teasing the season and introducing each queen was posted live to the franchise’s official YouTube channel, which trended within hours of being posted.

For season 8, the queens were revealed to be:

  • Alexis Michelle (season 9)
  • Darienne Lake (season 6)
  • Heidi N Closet (season 12)
  • Jaymes Mansfield (season 9)
  • Jessica Wild (season 2)
  • Jimbo (Drag Race: Canada, season 1)
  • Kahanna Montrese (season 11)
  • Kandy Muse (season 13)
  • LaLa Ri (season 13)
  • Monica Beverly Hillz (season 5)
  • Mrs. Kasha Davis (season 7)
  • Naysha Lopez (season 8)

Jimbo is the only queen to star in this season that wasn’t originally part of an American season of Drag Race. Previously, the only other queen originally from a non-American season to star in All Stars was The Vivienne, from season 1 of RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK, who competed fiercely in the “all winners” season.

News of the upcoming season comes just 6 days after the finale of season 15 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, where Sasha Colby took home the crown. Colby joins the small, but steadily growing group of powerful trans drag queens making history on the show.

Fans can watch the season’s two-episode premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars season 7 on Paramount+ on May 12.
