At the Ceasars Palace in Las Vegas for CinemaCon, Gosling, Greta Gerwig, Margot Robbie, and America Fererra were in attendance to debut a never-before-seen scene from the film and, of course, answer some pressing questions. Gosling dished some details on his doubts before stepping into the dreamhouse.

While dressed in a pink jacket with a shirt that resembled the Barbie logo but with director Greta Gerwig’s name instead, it was clear Gosling channeled his character.

When asked how he tapped into his inner Ken, Gosling stated, “I have to be honest, I had up until this point, I only knew Ken from afar. I didn’t know Ken from within…if I’m being really honest, I doubted my Ken-ergy. I didn’t see it. Margot and Greta, I feel like they conjured this out of me somewhere.”

“One day, I was bleaching my hair and shaving my legs and wearing bespoke neon outfits and rollerblading down Venice Beach. It came on like a fever, like a Scarlet fever. Like, ‘Why is there fake tanner on my sheets? Why am I wearing jackets without shirts? What just happened,’” he continued.

The overall filming process was just as whimsical and playful as the Barbie dolls we had as children. Robbie mentioned that they filmed near the Fast and Furious soundstage, and the cast of Barbie had visitors every day. “You’ve never seen so many grown men find excuses to come to set.” Margot joked.

“I think I finally knew what Dorthy felt like,” Gosling added. If the comparison to the wonderful world of Oz is any indication of what we’re in for, then Barbie is shaping up to be one of the most loved films of the summer.

Grab your cutest pink outfits and head to the theatre for the premiere of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie film on July 21.
