ENHYPEN will finally be returning, as BE:LIFT Entertainment finally revealed news of the group’s upcoming mini-album, which will be released on May 22 titled DARK BLOOD. After what seemed to be a drift apart from their signature “vampire-themed” lore with the release of “Future Perfect (Pass the MIC),” ENHYPEN is reviving their origin story better than before.

ENGENEs have been desperately anticipating the return of fourth-generation superstars ENHYPEN since the release of their last EP, MANIFESTO: DAY 1, which was released in July of last year. Since that time, the group embarked on their first world tour MANIFESTO and have visited countries all across the world to see and perform for their international fanbase.

The group is planning on releasing their next mini-album on Monday, May 22—and thus far, many spoilers have been released. On ENHYPEN’s TikTok, there exist traces of dance moves that will be incorporated within their title track, and most recently, the highlight medley of the new songs was dropped on their YouTube channel.

This upcoming EP consists of six additions to their discography: “Fate,” “Bite Me,” “Sacrifice (Eat Me Up),” “Chaconne,” “Bills,” and “Karma” (note: the boys seemed to have abandoned their signature intros and outros). Each song contains its own signature sound, exemplifying the group’s diverse abilities, while also aligning itself within the boundaries of the mysterious sound they seek to accomplish.

What is particularly interesting about ENHYPEN’s sudden swing around to amplify the vampire concept was their former commitment to abandoning that theme with their latest comeback. “Future Perfect” was entirely centered on creating a new identity for the boys, however, it seems now that ENHYPEN has already become far too entangled in this storyline to break free. Instead, they choose to embrace it—and fans could not be any more thankful.

DARK BLOOD is in cahoots with the popular webtoon “DARK MOON: THE BLOOD ALTAR,” since the characters are loosely based on the members in real life. From the days of “Drunk-Dazed,” there have been traces of the webtoon’s plotline sprinkled throughout their music videos, but it is unknown which direction they will be taking next.

BE:LIFT Lab’s promotional content leading up to the release on Monday has thus far been phenomenal. From the stunning cinematography and color grading in the boys’ concept trailer, it seems that ENHYPEN is taking a more artistically driven route, one which appears delicate and cold-blooded. Unlike the rugged individualism that has existed for their last two comebacks (with “Future Perfect,” as mentioned earlier, and “Blessed-Cursed”), they are finally turning it around to produce something of a softer nature; but still visually dark and charismatic.

Fans are anticipating great success with this album, which will be released soon. DARK BLOOD is sure to surprise us with the quality of its music and performances once again. If you would like to keep up with their content, do not forget to follow their Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter accounts.
