Swifties expect an unforgettable night with tickets to the “Eras Tour.” However, many fans report an inability to remember large chunks of the concert.

The tour is filled with high energy, sparkling outfits, and a 44-song set that has left Swifities speechless. With all-time high emotions, many fans report experiencing “post-concert amnesia.” This phenomenon causes them to remember parts of the concert while forgetting certain blocks of memories, such as the recollection of specific songs played. Although fans are not completely forgetting the eventful concert, it is disheartening for fans to be experiencing amnesia following the concert many have eagerly anticipated.

Swift is more than halfway through her tour and is expected to perform in Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Minneapolis in the upcoming days. According to Time Magazine, just three days after fan Jenna Tocatlian attended Swift’s concert, she struggled to remember the artist’s performance of one of her top songs. Despite experiences of post-concert amnesia, fans appear to be utterly devoted to the artist. Swifties without tickets are willing to spend big bucks in an attempt to score last-minute tickets, and some are camping outside of stadiums just to hear the artist.

Dr. Michelle Philips, featured by BBC News, discusses how post-concert amnesia is a relatively common phenomenon. Although certain aspects of the concert will not be encoded into memory, “…it’s likely one of the things they remember attending for the rest of their lives,” states Dr. Philips. Since the concert goes above and beyond for outfit changes, backup dancers, and stage effects, fans will encode aspects besides the music into their memories.

The “Eras Tour” is scheduled to continue through the beginning of August. Swifties can expect to continue experiencing post-concert amnesia with each dazzling show. Regardless, we anticipate fans will leave the “Eras Tour” with some type of lifelong memory of the Grammy-winning artist.
