The Jennifer Hudson Show is the latest daytime show to pause production, pushing its premiere date back amid the Hollywood strikes.

The anticipated return of the Jennifer Hudson Show was set to premiere season 2 on Monday, September 18. However, the Emmy award-winning singer and actress paused production due to ongoing Hollywood strikes.

The Jennifer Hudson Show is among daytime shows like The Drew Barrymore, The Talk, and Bill Maher to push back dates as writers and actors remain on strike. The heavy criticism sparked by Drew Barrymore to announce her talk show return while writers were on the picket lines prompted Hudson to pull back on the premiere date.

“It had been intended for Hudson’s nationally syndicated program, which the WGA covers, to launch its season without writers and resume WGA contributors once a new contract is in place. Barrymore’s announcement of the resumption of her hour-long program caused a stir that changed the course of every show’s individual script,” stated TheGrio.

The Writers Guild of America (WGA) has been striking since the beginning of May of this year. Writers across TV and movies have been out of work and are demanding better wages, including their jobs over Artificial intelligence (AI). The strike comes after six weeks of negotiations failed with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.

The Jennifer Hudson Show has not confirmed a date of return. Find out more about the writers’ strike below.
