SZA hinted that her next album is coming soon after posting a snippet of a new song to her Instagram and responding to fan’s comments.

The artist recently dropped “Saturn,” a collaboration with Mastercard for their forest restoration campaign that premiered at the Grammys. Since then, fans have been anxiously waiting for more whimsical R&B hits.

The new album SZA has been teasing for the last few months is not an entirely new project. With the success of her award-winning album SOS (2022), she has been teasing a deluxe version that could be turning into a new era for the artist.

“It’s outtakes [from SOS] and new stuff, too- I added a couple of songs,” SZA stated.

Titled Lana, the album has a bit of a background story for fans who are newer to the chart-topping artist. Born Solana Imani Rowe, the artist has gone by the nickname “SZA” ever since her career began in 2011.

“It’s called Lana– my name, but it’s the first tattoo I ever got, when I was 13. It was 10 bucks a letter and I only had 40, so that became my nickname for no reason.” The artist stated.

On March 12, SZA posted an Instagram reel of a snippet of even more new music. In the video, the artist can be seen in a camping tent wearing red lingerie as she sings, “Never fight over community D.”

Amassing over 1.1 million likes, fans flooded her comments asking where other songs were, such as Diamond Boy. SZA replied, “On the deluxe I’m bout to drop lol.”

While it seems like Lana is coming sooner than we think, the snippets, album artwork, and cryptic messages tweeted by the singer might be an attempt to throw fans off when guessing the release date.

This is not the singer’s first time delaying an album release date, either. When announcing her sophomore album SOS, she alluded to dropping new music as early as August 2019. SZA eventually went on to release the album at the beginning of December 2022, nearly five years after the release of her first album, Ctrl.

We can only hope SZA releases Lana soon for fans to enjoy as warmer weather approaches and the sun shines longer. Until then, you can stream the critically acclaimed album SOS on Apple Music and Spotify
