Kristen Stewart captured attention during her press tour for Love Lies Bleeding, even amidst the trend of going pantsless on runways and in celebrity circles.

Working alongside stylist Tara Swennen, Stewart embraced a bold and unapologetically undressed aesthetic, resonating with the film’s themes of carnality and covert politics. Their approach challenges societal norms on women’s bodies and sexuality, prompting viewers to reassess notions of empowerment and celebrity dressing.

During their respective press tours, Margot Robbie embraced a Barbie-inspired look, Zendaya garnered attention with sci-fi-themed outfits, and the cast of Godzilla Minus One donned matching lizard-heel footwear on the Oscar red carpet, keeping true to the method dressing frenzy.

However, the actress elevated character cosplay to a more significant level with her appearances for Love Lies Bleeding, adding substantial subtext to her minimalist clothing choices, and skillfully managing, and entertaining to see.

In February in Berlin, Stewart made headlines by appearing shirtless at the European premiere of Love Lies Bleeding, donning a Chanel couture patchwork miniskirt ensemble, and later, controversially, posing for a Rolling Stone cover in just a Nike tank top and jockstrap.

At the Los Angeles premiere, she continued her daring fashion choices by wearing a Bettter high-cut bodysuit with sheer tights, a blazer, and stilettos, signaling that her unconventional attire was a deliberate strategy rather than mere coincidence.

The motto of Bettter, a fashion label that transforms men’s suiting for women, is “empower rather than overpower.” This ethos aligns well with the themes of the movie Love Lies Bleeding, a queer film noir set in 1980s New Mexico.

During the promotional events in New York, Kristen Stewart boldly showcased her unconventional style, sporting abbreviated black minis with mesh bras and garter belts, sheer Monot draped chain halters, and tiny cream-colored knit hot pants with bras under khaki shirts.

Even in athletic Chanel micro-shorts and matching leg warmers, she kept her signature heels. Her outfits challenged gender expectations and responded to the notion that provocation invites judgment, making a bold statement about fashion politics.

Stewart’s confident demeanor conveyed her enjoyment and made a clear point without needing commentary from hosts, emphasizing her refusal to conform to conventional norms.
