It’s official, the highly anticipated film Turtle’s All the Way Down is coming to screens next month. The streaming service, Max posted on their official X account revealing the release date and full trailer for the film. It will premiere on May 2 on Max.

The cast of actors includes Felix Mallard (Ginny & Georgia), Isabela Merced (Dora and the Lost City of Gold), Cree Cicchino (Game Shakers), Maliq Johnson (Grand Army), Poorna Jagannathan (Never Have I Ever), and Judy Reyes (Scrubs).

Turtle’s All The Way Down will follow the same storyline as the book. The film tells the story of a 17-year-old girl named Aza Holms (Merced) who struggles with OCD. Despite her condition, Aza tries to navigate her love life, friendships, and school while dealing with her obsessive and invasive thoughts. She believes she is incapable of being in a romantic relationship because of her mental health. However, things begin to change when she reconnects with a boy named Davis (Mallard). Cicchino embodies the role of Daisy, Aza’s best friend, while Reyes portrays Aza’s protective mother.

The novel also includes a subplot about a hunt for a future billionaire who goes missing during a criminal investigation. Many of the readers assume this will also be in the film. Although it was not shown in the trailer, it is a major part of the story so it will most likely be incorporated.

The actors and crew took to Instagram to share the official poster, including Merced who is featured alongside Cicchino. Along with the characters, the graphic contains a bit of text stating, “You are not your thoughts,” which is an important message of the story.

Merced writes a heartfelt caption, sharing her excitement for fans to see the film. Additionally, she also shared her love for her costars and Green.

The film was written by This is Us showrunners Elizabeth Berger and Isaac Aptaker. They also executive produced with Richard Brener, Nikki Ramey, and Paulina Sussman from New Line Cinema, along with Laura Quicksilver, Bart Lipton, and Rosianna Halse Rojas. Green will also executive produce.

Pictures, New Line Cinema, and Temple Hill Entertainment are the production companies involved in making the film.

Green is best known as an author of multiple young adult novels. His books total over 50 million print copies worldwide. He wrote one of the most popular stories of all time, the heartbreaking rom-com The Fault in Our Stars. He already has experience with his stories turning into films, as this was also adapted into a film in 2014. Additionally, his book Paper Towns was also made into a film in 2015, which starred Nat Wolff and Cara Delevingne. Looking for Alasksa was the third novel to be adapted, turning into a limited series with one season, starring Kristine Froseth and Charlie Plummer.

The response from fans and readers has been overwhelmingly positive, with excitement circling all over social media.
