The tracklist for Zayn Malik’s upcoming album, Room Under the Stairs has been revealed. The project hits streaming services on May 17.

On April 10, Malik took to Instagram to announce the track list for Room Under the Stairs. His post features a handwritten note with each of the song titles, and him singing a soulful ballad in the background. With the lead single “What I Am,” the album boasts fifteen tracks in total.

If “What I Am” tells us anything about the rest of the project, then Room Under the Stairs is set to show a new side of Malik. “What I Am” contains a stripped-down guitar melody and mellow drums. It gives off the feeling of a laid-back country anthem without the usual flare associated with the genre. “What I Am” relies on its musical simplicity and the singer’s smooth vocals to captivate its listeners. Setting a peaceful tone for Room Under the Stairs.

According to Billboard, Room Under the Stairs is the “Pillowtalk” singer’s fourth studio album. After leaving One Direction in 2015, he launched his solo career in 2016 with a project entitled Mind of Mine, followed by Icarus Falls in 2018. His most recent album, Nobody Is Listening dates back to 2021. However, while he was a part of One Direction, they released four studio albums together; each of which hit number 1 on the Billboard 200.

This album isn’t the only major project the singer has up his sleeve this year. Currently, he’s working on the upcoming animated film, 10 Lives. He will voice act, executive produce, and write the music for this film. According to Variety, 10 Lives features a duet between Malik and Bridgerton star Simone Ashley. 2024 is gearing up to be a big year for the artist.
