Universal Pictures

No, it’s not a jumpscare. Five Nights at Freddy’s will have a sequel. The film will be released in Fall 2025.

Fans of the beloved horror movie, Five Nights at Freddy’s will be happy to know that a sequel to the first film is in the works.

Blumhouse Productions will produce the film. They are known for making films such as Get Out, Happy Death Day, Halloween, and The Purge. They also produced the first Five Nights at Freddy’s, which was released in October 2023. In a statement on X, the corporation stated, “WE ARE CONFIRMING FOR THE FIRST TIME THAT THERE WILL BE A SEQUEL TO FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S, COMING FALL 2025.”

Five Nights at Freddy’s originally began as a horror video game. The player is a night watchman at the abandoned Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza restaurant. There are 5 animatronics in the restaurant that are haunted by the spirits of young children. The player ultimately has to make it through 5 nights at the pizzeria.

The beloved video game became so popular that it went on to expand into a total of 20 games, with a movie adaptation that was released just last year. The movie features Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games), Elizabeth Lail (You), and Matthew Lillard (Scooby-Doo, Scream, She’s All That).

The animatronics of characters like Freddy, Chica, Bonnie, and Foxy were created by none other than Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. The puppeteer is also known for working on The Muppets, Fraggle Rock, and Sesame Street.

The movie is scheduled to release in Fall 2025. No other information or trailers have been released yet. While waiting, you can watch the first Five Nights at Freddy’s on Prime, Apple TV, and Peacock.
