Today, singer Louis Tomlinson released a new album titled Live, full of his live performances from shows in numerous cities worldwide.

Tomlinson posted on social media early today to the surprise of fans, dropping the news of the album. He posted on Instagram and X with the same heartfelt caption, “This collaboration is a true collaboration between me and you. Thank you for the amazing memories.”

After postponing multiple shows and the world tour for his debut album Walls in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it moved to 2021 and then finally to 2022, where it kicked off again. Since then, he has been traveling around the world, and putting on sold-out shows in numerous cities around the world.

The former One Direction band member did not drop this news out of nowhere. Tomlinson tweeted a link 2 days ago only writing “Pre-save” with no other context on his X account @LTHQOfficial. Fans had no idea what they were pre-saving because there had not been any news about an upcoming album or new music.

The account then tweeted again yesterday, stating that specific locations will be sent a surprise by email to complete a puzzle.

In the email, they were given a link to a site to view a new video clip and download a puzzle piece. For the next 29 hours, fans scrambled on social media, helping each other find the puzzle pieces and put them together, with each piece revealing one of his song names and a city to match it.

The last puzzle piece was solved this morning, and Tomlinson tweeted within an hour after, with a link to the album release on all platforms. The album features 15 live performances of his songs, each taking place in a different city around the world, including cities like Paris, Buenos Aires, Munich, Nashville, and more. You can see the songs he chose in the finished puzzle in the tweet below.

The puzzle was a fun way for fans to look for Easter eggs. This is something two of his former bandmates, Harry Styles and Niall Horan also like to do before releasing music to make fans feel like they are part of its release.

Fans are already listening to the album and loving it. Now, instead of rewatching their concert videos, they can head to Spotify or Apple Music to hear the live version of their favorite songs whenever they want to.

The album length is a total of 59 minutes, almost exactly 1 hour long. You can view the tracklist of songs and stream Tomlinson’s new album Live out now, here.
