Superhero fans rejoice: The newest Deadpool & Wolverine trailer dropped today starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman back in action for their MCU debut.

It is a great day to be a superhero fan, but even more bittersweet for Wolverine and Hugh Jackman fans. Fans have been anxiously awaiting Hugh Jackman’s arrival in the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever since Disney officially gained the rights to characters from the X-Men and the Fantastic Four.

Back in 2019, Disney sealed the deal in a $71.3 billion acquisition from 20th Century Fox, which produced films, such as X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Fox also had the rights to the hit animated televised series X-Men: The Animated Series (1992-1997), which has now been reimagined and rebooted as X-Men ’97 on Disney Plus.

Now, let’s dive into the latest Deadpool & Wolverine trailer. While we confirmed that Hugh Jackman was, in fact, making his return as the titular Marvel comic book character, we never saw his actual face and presence in a teaser trailer until now. In today’s newest trailer, we are greeted by Wolverine in, you guessed it, a bar.

First, Disney is not holding back from Deadpool’s raunchy, gruesome, action-packed persona. And with that raunchy persona comes explicit language. In the first two films of the Deadpool series, the anti-hero is known for his crude comments and coarse language with a R-rating when released in theaters. Disney has assured fans of Deadpool that the character will not be censored, maintaining the R-rating for its release this July.

This time around, Deadpool is not holding back. The “merc with a mouth” pokes fun at Wolverine’s abilities in the trailer with “whiskey d**k of the claws.” In the comic books, Deadpool and Wolverine have an awkward friendship. From hating each other to working with each other, their snide remarks to each other will have a significant presence in the upcoming film.

Second, Deadpool loves to break the fourth wall. It’s his second job besides stopping bad guys, of course. Featured in the trailer is Blind Al, a returning character from the previous movies and a supporting character to Deadpool, who asks him if he wants to “do some c******” to which he replies, “C****** is the one thing that Feige said is off limits.” Feige refers to Kevin Feige, the current president of Marvel Studios.

Towards the end of the trailer, some easter eggs hint at new and returning characters. One scene features an enlarged Ant-Man helmet, a destroyed 20th Century Fox sign, and the two title characters jumping through a portal, seemingly created by Doctor Strange. This film also features a new villain that faces off against Wolverine in the trailer, portrayed by Emma Corrin.

For now, the hype will continue to build for a predicted blockbuster and movie of the year for superhero fans. The reunion between Deadpool and Wolverine will be one to remember, as both heroes are ecstatic to jump back into action, exclaiming, “Let’s f****** go!” before the screen fades to black.

Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters on July 26. Until then, you can watch the latest trailer here.
