Doechii, this year’s up-and-coming rapper and singer, is on a roll and winning with her music dominating TikTok, showcasing unmatched creativity like no one else.

Doechii started in music as a teenager, writing poetry in high school before deciding to pursue it professionally. The rapper released her first-ever song, “Girls,” on SoundCloud in 2016, and in 2020, she released her self-funded album Oh the Places You Go.

One of the tracks is titled after Juni B. Jones’s book, Yucky Blucky Fruit Cake, went viral on TikTok. It eventually reached the ears of Top Dog Entertainment, leading her to sign with them in 2022.

Doechii Is The Moment

Her rise to stardom happened quickly, and things only picked up from here. The singer released her mixtape, and she states“Alligator Bites Never Heal was more than just a career breakthrough;” it also marked a turning point in her creative approach.

For Doechii, music is a domain of peace and joy, and she wants to keep it this way as she grows. Keeping up with her growth pace, the upcoming rapper has been nominated in three categories for the forthcoming Grammys 2025: Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Album. All this is for a simple mixtape; she’s truly a gem. And fans don’t even want to think about Doechii’s upcoming album, which she’s been recently teasing to come to listeners in 2025.

For now, she has been up and at it with live performances. She surprised fans at Camp Flog Gnaw by performing “Balloon” alongside Tyler the Creator, then went on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, where fans fell in love with the creativity that went into the “Denial is a River/Boiled Peanuts” performance production. Most recently, she performed at NPR’s Tiny Desk. With all these performances, notably, she’s been nominated for best rap performance. She kept the energy going with herself and her crew throughout the Tiny Desk concert. She truly is fantastic.
