Olivia Rodrigo Stuns With Vocals on Debut Single, ‘drivers license’
Olivia Rodrigo’s new single has jumped to the top of streaming charts around the world.
The seventeen-year-old singer-songwriter from Temecula, CA is best known for her acting skills in roles as Paige Olvera on the Disney Channel series Bizaardvark and Nini Salazar-Roberts on the Disney+ series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. Now, she is climbing to top charts around the world with her debut song “drivers license”.
The rising star wows fans with her deep and soulful lyrics that hit home for anyone who has experienced heartbreak. Some of her lyrics have brewed controversy with Sabrina Carpenter, a 21-year-old singer, who has allegedly been involved in a romantic relationship with Rodrigo’s ex co-star and reported boyfriend, Joshua Basset.
“And you’re probably with that blonde girl
Who always made me doubt
She’s so much older than me
She’s everything I’m insecure about
Yeah, today I drove through the suburbs
‘Cause how could I ever love someone else?”
It is rumored that Rodigo, 17, is singing about the blonde and 21, Carpenter. Fans on Twitter aren’t taking the lyrics as shade, instead deem both of these beautiful girls as the queens they are.

Olivia Rodrigo isn’t explicitly throwing any shade at Carpenter, she just mentions that her lover is with an older, blonde, girl she was told to not worry about by a previous partner.
The singer continues to showcase her vocals and exquisite songwriting that displays her pain throughout the whole track. According to Variety, Rodrigo has already soared to the No. 1 spot on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. The music video has also surpassed 16 million views just days after the initial release of the song.
