Christina Ricci Is the Latest Addition To Join ‘The Matrix 4’
Christina Ricci is the latest surprise addition to Lana Wachowski’s installment of The Matrix 4. Familiar faces of the famous franchise are returning, such as Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Jada Pinkett-Smith. Ricci is in the company of an extremely stacked cast. The star-studded cast has Priyanka Chopra-Jonas, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
The sci-fi action film has been kept under wraps, but fans know that Reeves and Moss will return as the iconic Neo and Trinity, a pairing that began in 1999. The Matrix received widespread critical acclaim, winning four Academy Awards in 2000. The film won Best Visual Effects, Best Film Editing, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Sound Editing. Due to the film’s astronomical success, two sequels had been released just four years later. In 2003, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions would be released within six months of each other.

Although it’s shocking to be working on a fourth installment almost two decades later, Lana and her sister Lilly have an idea that is worth exploring given the stacked celebrity casting. Christina Ricci is the latest to hop on board the sci-fi action film. Ricci gained a following as a child actress for her portrayal as Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family, starring alongside Angelica Huston and Raul Julia. She has also appeared in Sleepy Hollow opposite Johnny Depp, and Mermaids, opposite Cher and Winona Ryder.

This will be Ricci’s second time working with Wachowski, having done Speed Racer in 2008. Speed Racer also had appearances made by Emile Hirsch and Susan Sarandon. Speed Racer had been a sports action comedy film. Although it is unclear of Ricci’s role in The Matrix 4, The Wachowski’s and Ricci will make a great pairing alongside a talented cast.
