Lorde Performs Latest Single ‘Stoned at the Nail Salon’ on ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’
Lorde delivered an ethereal performance of “Stoned at the Nail Salon” on Late Night With Seth Meyers, marking the singer’s debut performance of the second single off her highly anticipated third studio album, Solar Power.
Jack Antonoff, a close friend and collaborator, joined Lorde onstage. Antonoff co-produced her last album Melodrama, and he also co-produced and co-wrote songs off Solar Power. As Lorde sings the emotional ballad surrounded by a field of flowers, Antonoff sits close by, strumming his guitar.

Lorde ditches the makeup for this performance but still shines brightly. The dim lights helped her deliver an intimate performance. “Stoned at the Nail Salon” is nearly five minutes long, and fans are loving every second of it. They took to social media to share their thoughts on the performance.

In an interview with Zane Lowe, Lorde spoke about the differences between beginning with “Solar Power” followed by “Stoned at the Nail Salon.” She reveals, “It’s definitely one of the quietest, most introspective, and internal moments on the record, but I thought it was cool to start with Solar Power and then to be like, ‘And also this.'”

While “Solar Power” is more sunny and upbeat, “Stoned at the Nail Salon” offers a heavier message. She elaborates to Zane Lowe, “It’s about the passage of time, which is a weird thing to even think about and be in conversation with. But thinking about me at 16, my parents getting older, all these big, heavy things really confronting my mortality, I split off when I think about this song, but I am proud of it.”
Lorde’s highly anticipated album, Solar Power, is out on August 20. The singer will be embarking on a sold-out tour promoting the album next year. You can watch Lorde’s stunning performance of the latest single from her new album above.
