Mandy Moore Believes Olivia Rodrigo Is Perfect for A Walk to Remember Reboot

A Walk to Remember, which captured our hearts in the early 2000s with the talented Mandy Moore and Shane West, could be getting a reboot due to the wishes of our very own favorite ‘girl next door,’ Mandy Moore wants for an Olivia Rodrigo casting.

Written by our favorite loving author, Nicholas Sparks, A Walk To Remember which is set in North Carolina, follows the rite of passage of a jaded, aimless high school senior (Shane West) who falls in love with a genuine young woman (Mandy Moore) he and his friends once scorned. The two develop a powerful and inspirational relationship in which they discover truths that take most people a lifetime to learn.

Reflecting upon her role 20 years later from its original 2002 release date, Moore believes that the film has “earned its place in cinematic history for a reboot at this point.” And we couldn’t agree quite more.

In honor of the film’s 20th Anniversary, Moore shares a heartfelt message with a polaroid aesthetic image of her and fellow actor, Shane West which reads:

“20 years ago, ‘A Walk to Remember‘ premiered in theatres. It unequivocally changed the course of my life and career, and these two gentlemen were such a large part of it all. Thanks to all who have found and loved this movie and continue to pass it on. It (and @adamshankman & @theshanewest) will forever hold a very special place in my heart. #awalktoremember #20years”

For those of you who have watched and grown up with the film, you’ve essentially lived and seen the widespread cultural influence on younger audiences, especially for the movie in its’ popular culture realm, which is high ‘thanks’ to Shane West and Mandy Moore. Our favorite This is Us actress who has had a star-studded career in Hollywood through the works of her music, acting, and more continues to leave us quite frankly, wanting more. Moore continues, “I would love to see it. It’s been long enough.” She tells People, “I don’t know, Olivia Rodrigo or something like that,” Moore said, adding, “Someone could redo this film.”

With Olivia Rodrigo’s popularity growing amongst youth and young adult audiences, our favorite brutal singer and performer are praised by Moore as a possible actress she believes would suit the role of A Walk to Remember reboot well. Given Olivia Rodrigo’s background in acting, performing, writing music, and her break-out part and introduction to an influential audience through Disney+’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. Rodrigo continues to dazzle us through performance, music, and her following fan following, which apprises mostly youth and young adults. Set to go on her Sour tour later in 2022, we’re sure Rodrigo will continue to gather traction amongst her popularity which is prevalent and praised by various Hollywood elite stars such as Taylor Swift.

We could envision it, as Rodrigo mentioned in a previous interview. “I don’t know where my career’s going to go in the next five years or the next 10,” Olivia told GQ in August 2021. “I’m grateful that I get to be doing both [acting and singing] now. I just think it’s about finding projects and writing songs I feel really passionate about.”

Who could ever forget the scene where Landon (Shane West) sticks the temporary tattoo on Jamie (Mandy Moore), and she smiles at him? That butterfly will always be in our hearts, forever.
