Netflix Cancels Another Show, This Time It’s Raising Dion
After two seasons, Netflix has canceled one of their original hit series, Raising Dion. The news was announced by actor Sammi Haney (Esperanza Jimenez) in an Instagram post.
“Sad to say that Raising Dion is CANCELED. Thank you for all of the amazing support we got from all of our wonderful fans! Season 2 was a success, equal to Season 1, even if just looking at how many people watched all of it and wanted a season 3!” stated Haney.
Even though the show’s cancellation does come as sad news to the cast, Haney identified the ‘silver lining’ to the decision. The actress stated in the Instagram post how the Netflix contract had kept her from accepting other roles, and she is ready to pursue a different path.
Ja’Siah Young (Dion) jumped into the conversation, stating, “It’s not any of us, it’s not me, it’s not you guys. You guys were great. I really loved it. I loved every moment of it. Thank you.”
Alisha Wainright (Nicole Reese) also gave a farewell to Raising Dion in an Instagram post. The actress wrote about the significant role that the series played in representing minorities.
“I am heartbroken that the show isn’t moving forward, not only because I won’t get to work with my amazing cast and crew in the same way again but because I feel Raising Dion did so much for little Black and Brown children and children with disabilities,” she stated. “I wish we could give them more stories in our wonderful Dion world. My heart aches for the little ones.”

Honestly so disappointed in @netflix @NetflixUK right now! Seriously considering cancelling my subscription! Found out the other day that they cancelled Archive 81, a seriously amazing show and now I’m finding out they cancelled Raising Dion?! …

The official reason why Raising Dion was canceled has not been revealed yet. But fans are hoping for other TV networks to pick up the sci-fi series. With Netflix canceling the show, fans won’t be able to find out about Pat stepping into the dark side or the true identity of the crooked man.
Hopefully, another TV network will pick up the superhero sci-fi series, and fans of Raising Dion will get a proper ending.
