Lightyear, the Toy Story Prequel, Is on Its Way
Pixar is officially creating a spin-off based on one of Disney’s beloved film series, Toy Story. Lightyear focuses on the origin story of Buzz Lightyear.
Lightyear will delve into the life of Buzz Lightyear (Chris Evans) before his time in Toy Story. Buzz goes on intergalactic adventures with his robot companion Sox (Peter Sohn) and a few recruiters.
The character of Buzz Lightyear was inspired by Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin, the second American to walk the moon. During his time in the Air Force and NASA, Aldrin’s heroic acts awarded him a Presidential Medal of Freedom, Congressional Gold Medal, and many other awards.
The cast of Lightyear consists of Chris Evans (Captain America: The First Avenger), Keke Palmer (Alice), Dale Soules (AWOL), Taika Waititi (Free Guy), Peter Sohn (The Good Dinosaur), Uzo Aduba (In Treatment), James Brolin (Castle), Mary McDonald-Lewis (Deep Dark), Efren Ramirez (The Pool Boys), and Isiah Whitlock Jr (Da 5 Bloods).
