Selena Gomez is a hard-Working girl. After Hulu greenlighting Only Murders in the Building for a third season, the actress may have another project on the horizon.

On August 2, Deadline announced that 20th Century Studios is looking to reboot an iconic rom com of the 1980s: Working Girl. The Mike Nichols 1988 film that starred Melanie Griffith, Harrison Ford, Sigourney Weaver, and Joan Cusack became a smash hit at the box office, rallying more than $100 million and garnering 6 Oscar nominations. The premise “involves Tess, an ambitious secretary (Griffith) who takes on her boss’ identity while the latter is laid up with a broken leg.”

According to Variety, “Gomez is in final negotiations to produce a reboot of [Working Girl].” She will make a great addition to bringing this popular film back to life. The actress currently serves as an executive producer in the Hulu comedy series, Only Murders in the Building, opposite Steve Martin and Martin Short. Fans love the trio’s chemistry. The actors scored a whopping 17 Emmy nominations, including Best Comedy Series. In addition to her successful work at Hulu, she also acts and produces her HBO Max series, Selena + Chef.

If a Working Girl reboot is on the way, IIana Peña will pen the script. She is most notably known for creating the hit Disney+ series Diary of a Future President. No other casting announcements have been made at this time.

We are ready to go back in time with this timeless classic. Meanwhile, fans can stream the original film on Hulu.
