Brandy Norwood Makes Her Second Horror Film Debut in A24’s New Film The Front Room
Brandy Norwood returns to horror with her new role in A24’s psychological thriller The Front Room. News that the production is underway has reached us here at Glitter just in time for the spooky season.
It has been 24 years since the seasoned actress won everyone’s hearts as Karla Wilson in the blockbuster horror sequel I Still Know What you Did Last Summer. This ’90s slasher film featured Brandy as the unsuspecting best friend of two surviving teens, Julie (Jenifer Love Hewitt) and Ray (Freddie Prinze Jr.). The movie follows a group of teens paying for the sins of their friends when a murderous fisherman returns to stalk them.
According to Variety, identical twins Sam and Max Eggers will make their directing debut with The Front Room but are not amateurs in filmmaking. Both have screenwriting credits on films like The Lighthouse and Olympia. Also, they are the siblings of established filmmaker Robert Eggers, known for works like The Northman, The Lighthouse, and The Witch. The Front Room is a psychological thriller based on the original short story by Susan Hill. The plot centers around a pregnant couple who takes in an estranged, sick stepmother. Alongside Brandy, this film will star Kathryn Hunter, Andrew Burnap, and Neal Huff.
Norwood earned some noteworthy nominations for her role, including Best Breakthrough Female Performance at the MTV Movie+ TV Awards and Favorite Actress at the Blockbuster Entertainment Awards in 1999. She is also known for her roles in Moesha, The Parkers, and her 1999 Grammy win for “The Boy is Mine” featuring singer Monica.
In a recent Instagram post, the Grammy-winning musician shared her joy for her anticipated role.
Norwood’s fans sang her praises under A24’s Twitter post where they announced the film’s production. Some fans speculated if this means we will be hearing new music to accompany the film from the star.
