Ana de Armas Just Made Her Hosting Debut At SNL
Ana de Armas made her first-ever hosting debut on Saturday Night Live this past weekend with a sweet tribute to her culture. She brought her A-game to promote her upcoming spy thriller Ghosted and Ballerina, a John Wick spinoff.
During her monologue, the Blonde actress greeted the audience in Spanish while paying tribute to her Cuban heritage. De Armas then continued to share her journey coming to the U.S. “I came to America when I was 26, and I learned English the way everyone who comes to this country does: by watching ‘Friends‘,” the actress mentions. “Who would have thought that the best English tutor would be Chandler Bing?” De Armas joked.

De Armas then explained the difficulties she encountered in the U.S. with effectively communicating in English. The actress recollects an instance from an audition techniques class, “which was definitely a scam. There was this line, ‘I beg your pardon.’ But I had never heard that phrase, so I thought this character was literally begging.”
The Oscar nominee also acknowledged Robert de Niro, whom she had met while filming her first American movie, Hands of Stone. She shares how De Niro once visited her father at work during his trip to Cuba.
She concludes by expressing how grateful she was for working alongside “wonderful actors.” She ends her monologue with a sweet sentiment “My dad was so proud of me, and he would be proud to see me today standing on this stage. I feel very lucky to be here.”

Also making her debut on SNL, alongside De Armas, was Karol G. The Colombian singer was the night’s musical guest. She was seen celebrating the triumph of her latest album Mañana Será Bonito as it marked a significant milestone. In fact, it became the first all-Spanish record by a female artist to attain the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart.
