Normani reveals a snippet of her new single “Candy Paint” in a dance-themed commercial for Bose headphones after a year-long hiatus.

The 57-second clip depicts Normani wearing Bose earbuds while practicing dance moves and penning lyrics surrounded by inspirational magazine clippings. She also sports Bose headphones in clips of her singing in a recording studio.

The unexpected premiere also gives insight into her creative process through a voiceover as she speaks about authenticity and conceptualizing her video visuals.

“People sometimes confuse my commitment to the craft with perfectionism,” Normani stated in the advertisement. “I don’t strive for perfection. Personally, I strive to be the most authentic version of myself, like I’m not just one thing. I strive to create work that moves my spirit.”

Fans have been waiting for the single’s release since the former Fifth Harmony singer confirmed the title on May 29 in an Instagram Live. After someone commented, “Drop ‘Candy Paint’ now,” Normani’s friend asked on camera, “How do they know the name of it?”

In an interview with Billboard about the single and her partnership with Bose, the singer revealed what we can expect from the track.

“It’s a performance record first, which I know my fans have been waiting for, for a very long time,” Normani mentioned. “It’s fun, energetic, bossy. It’s bold. It’s sassy but assertive, and yeah, I’m really excited to shoot the music video.”

There’s no release date for “Candy Paint” yet, but the description for the advertisement says that Normani’s debut album is “finally on the cusp.” Until then, you can listen to her most recent single, “Fair,” on all streaming platforms.
