On September 10, the Video Music Awards announced on X that “Do It Like That” by Tomorrow X Together (TXT) and Jonas Brothers was up against “Seven” by Jung Kook featuring Latto in the final round for Song of the Summer. ARMY and MOA will dictate who takes home the crown.

This will be Jung Kook’s second year nominated under this category, with “Seven” being his first single since the announcement of his solo debut. The song was released on July 14 this year and has already placed No. 1 on Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. for seven weeks straight. It is no surprise why fans, a.k.a ARMY, voted in support.

TXT fans, a.k.a MOA, have also been doing the work regarding voting. Their “Do It Like That” collab with the Jonas Brothers will be the group’s second song nomination for this year’s VMAs. TXT is running for two additional VMA categories: PUSH Performance of the Year and Best K-Pop Video for their title track “Sugar Rush Ride.” The song is in the group’s The Name Chapter: Temptation EP, which became the longest-charting K-Pop album on the Billboard 200 in 2023.

It is safe to say that both artists have had a musically successful year, and with them being under the same label, HYBE has themselves a win-win, no matter what.

Besides anticipating who gets the final spot for the Song of the Summer category, MOA will look forward to TXT’s VMA performance with Brazilian singer Anitta. They are set to debut their new song “Back for More” for the first time live. Although it is still unclear if Jung Kook will be attending this year’s Video Music Awards, ARMY can await new songs from the artist. In an interview with Variety, Jung Kook explained that he is working hard to get his solo album released by this year and hopes his fans look forward to it.

Audiences can watch the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards on September 12 at 8/7 central time to find out who wins Song of the Summer.
