Ryan Gosling Releases New Ken The EP
Ryan Gosling wants fans to have a joyous holiday season. The actor, who embodied the role of Ken in Greta Gerwig’s groundbreaking Barbie film, released The Ken EP on December 20.
The Barbie actor unveiled the EP along with fellow Barbie composers Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt. Gosling’s EP features three renditions of the iconic track “I’m Just Ken.” The EP includes “I’m Just Ken (Merry Kristmas Barbie),” “I’m Just Ken (In My Feelings Acoustic)” and “I’m Just Ken (Purple Disco Machine Remix).”

Mark Ronson took to Instagram to share an anecdote about the recording process. After recording the track in March 2022 in North London, Ronson admitted to feeling starstruck upon first meeting Gosling. However, after spending time together in the studio, Ronson knew that the trio created something special. He continued, “Not only did he bring a broken falsetto, a hefty growl, & everything in between, he brought the emotional resonance of a great actor who’d been living in a role for the past 6 months…after that, we didn’t see each other again for 18 months but of course, I was excited to see the world fall in love with his performance & know to some small degree, our song was a part of it.”
Gerwig’s Barbie continues to shatter records this awards season. Barbie The Album is nominated for eleven Grammy Awards with Gosling’s “I’m Just Ken” receiving both a Golden Globe and Critics Choice nomination.
In addition to Gosling’s musical accolades, Gerwig’s billion-dollar film leads this year’s Golden Globes with 9 nominations. The film also broke the all-time record for the Critics Choice Awards with a whopping 18 nominations.
