SZA Releases ‘Saturn,’ Her First New Song of the Year
On February 22, SZA quietly dropped the single “Saturn,” rumored to be the lead track of her next album, Lana, to be released later this year.
This is her first project two years after the critical acclaim and success of her last album, SOS.
The song has a lush, ethereal vibe that graces fans’ ears. However, this is not the first time fans have heard her newest song.
SZA debuted the new track in a Mastercard partnership commercial that premiered during the 2024 Grammy Awards. The artist took home three awards that night as well.
In the commercial, SZA can dance around in a whimsical forest with somber lighting as the artist sets the tone, claiming, “Life’s better on Saturn.”
SZA is no stranger to enchanting elements and settings. The forest fairy vibes of the commercial were similar to that of her hit song from her last album, SOS, “Good Days,” where she can be seen frolicking amongst mushrooms and moss-covered hills.
The only difference between the two videos is the messages being relayed to the audience. While “Good Days” promotes a fluffy, airy, angelic tone, “Saturn” is helping to restore crucial forestland around the globe.
Partnering with Mastercard, SZA supported their forest restoration initiative with the Priceless Planet Coalition.
“We’re a force of nature when we come together. That’s why I’m supporting Mastercard on their mission to restore forests around the globe. Join me.” The artist stated at the end of the ad.
After much fan commotion begging her to release the live version, SZA dropped the “Saturn pack.” The pack includes the original, live, sped-up, instrumental, and acapella versions.
SZA listened to her fans and appreciated the feedback, as you can listen to every version now wherever you stream music.
