Sabrina Carpenter Makes Saturday Night Live Debut– With New ‘Nonsense’ Outro
Sabrina Carpenter worked extra late this weekend for her Saturday Night Live debut. The singer took the stage to perform fan-favorite hits as the final musical guest of the season.
After an introduction from the night’s host, Jake Gyllenhaal, the camera panned to Carpenter reading the newspaper headline, “Sabrina likes to be on top” (of the charts, duh) and drinking an espresso martini. Of course, it only meant she would sing her most recent hit, “Espresso.”

Accompanied by two phenomenal male dancers, she pranced around the upscale bar set in a red mesh puff-sleeved slip and red platform Mary Janes. Her set ended with a kiss to the camera, and she was off to change for her second act.
Fans questioned whether she would perform “Feather” or “Nonsense,” her two other hits that have made the rounds on social media, as well as the charts. Well, the singer did not disappoint, and instead of choosing one, she performed a medley of both – with some fun adlibs.
Most notably, switching out “I’m so sorry for your loss, with “I’m on SNL and you’re not.” Take that, internet haters. This time, dressed in a light pink feather corset with a short feather train and platform pumps, she’s joined by four dancers performing 70s-style, Bob Fosse-esque choreography.
For the most part, fans wanted her to perform “Nonsense” because they knew she would deliver an iconic outro like she’s done for the past year. Well, she did it again.
“He is 30 Rock ‘cause I said ‘hi,’ / His sense of humor is, but I’m not dry / SNL, I just came for the first time,” she sang as she closed out the last musical production of SNL season 49.
Aside from her musical appearance, she also took part in a Scooby-Doo sketch alongside Gyllenhaal, Mikey Day, Sarah Sherman, and Andrew Dismukes. She portrayed the series staple, Daphne, and given the character’s bouncy blowout and bangs, Carpenter was the perfect candidate.

If the “Nonsense” singer’s SNL performance is any indication of what her rumored arena tour will be like, be ready to pour yourself an espresso and wait in the queues for tickets.
