Grande is breaking records and pouring her love and passion for music into her latest era: eternal sunshine. With music videos starring Evan Peters and Penn Badgley, and several podcast appearances to discuss her latest project, it is safe to say the pop star has no intentions of saying goodbye to this whimsical era anytime soon.

Now, the singer will be featuring two new artists on her album for a remix. This is not the first time she’s released a remix for eternal sunshine. She collaborated with Mariah Carey and Troye Sivan for the “yes, and?” and “supernatural” remixes.

Who are the two artists you may ask? Only none other than the iconic R&B duo Brandy and Monica, who also happened to guest star in the official music video for “the boy is mine.”

You may be wondering why this is such a monumental moment for Grande. When creating “the boy is mine” for her record, she used Brandy & Monica’s 1998 duet “The Boy Is Mine” (yup, same title just lower-case). Being inspired by both house music and classic ’90s R&B, she altered the meaning behind the original classic.

In Brandy and Monica’s version, they depicted two women fighting over the same man. Grande has twisted their concept into a battle within oneself over true love, how hidden insecurities and self-worth play into a battle of trying to get a man all to herself.

With the duo already guest-starring in the music video as televised news reporters, a remix was imminent for the singer. The second episode of Penn Badgley’s podcast Podcrushed guest starring the artist was released today, where she discussed the possibility of additional remixes and a deluxe version (fingers crossed) in the months to come.

“It’s funny that you say that because I’ve been writing a little bit recently…maybe there are some new ideas that could be included,” Grande stated. A day after the MET Gala she “practically lived” in the studio, curating more magic for her fans to perhaps one day listen to themselves.

Not much information regarding the remix has been released, except for the teaser the singer posted on Instagram. Channeling her inner Catwoman energy once again, she also alluded to Batman, shining her signal in the sky with bats flying in the background. A newspaper also came to the forefront of the video, displaying the remix is “coming soon” as Grande harmonizes in the background. To finish the teaser, the date “June 21” shines brightly in the sky as another signal. The video was also filmed in black and white, showcasing a more noir aesthetic to the song.

While we are counting down the days until the official remix drops, you can check out “the boy is mine” music video below.
