Hulu Ushers in a New Era of Dance Moms This August
It’s time to get up and on the floor because a new generation of mother-daughter duos are living on the dancefloor in Hulu’s reboot of Dance Moms.
The 10-episode reboot, Dance Moms: A New Era, is set to follow Glo Hampton and the young dancers at the prestigious dance studio, Studio Bleu. Much like the original series, the dancers will tackle new pieces at weekly competitions—something Hampton calls “the biggest challenge” of her career.
In case the new coach looks familiar, it’s because she was featured in season 3 of the original series when Abby Lee Miller replaced her entire team. She and her daughter, Kaeli Ware, now a professional ballerina, competed with the ALDC for one week before being let go.
Now, Hampton plans to take her own team to the top, even if it means turning the pressure on. Similar to Miller’s “everyone’s replaceable” motto, Hampton tells her team, “I can replace anyone at any time.”
Although the 30-second teaser does not disclose much about the cast or concepts, it does promise, “New Coach. New Team. New Level of Drama.” Let’s be honest though, can anything top Kelly Hyland’s “Get your finger out of my face?” We shall see.

The original reality series entered our homes in 2011, and whether you watched for the impressive dancing, crazy stage moms, or less-than-delightful dance coach, you’d have to admit Dance Moms was a bona fide hit. Within the eight years, it was on the air, it launched the careers of many young dancers, including Maddie Ziegler, Jojo Siwa, Nia Sioux, and Chloe Lukasiak.
Earlier this year, some of the original cast gathered for a 2-hour reunion that touched upon the highs, lows, and stomach-churning moments seen throughout the seven seasons. Looking back, it now feels like the reunion was closure and a subtle goodbye as Hulu prepares to usher in the new generation.
Dance Moms: A New Era hits Hulu on August 7.
