D23: Fan Convention Debuts New Trailers and Announcements

Following a welcome from CEO Bob Iger, fans received a new trailer for Moana 2, which hits theaters this November. The trailer teases a new journey for Moana and Maui. Actor Dwayne Johnson also announced his latest film, Monster Jam. Following this, visionary James Cameron took the stage to reveal a new title and concept art for Avatar: Fire and Ash, which hits theaters next December.

Pixar was next to take the stage following the record-breaking success of Inside Out 2. They presented a new trailer for Win or Lose, Pixar’s first original series, and a logo for Dream Productions, an Inside Out spinoff series. 

Attendees received new looks at Elio, which will arrive in theaters next year, and Toy Story 5, which promises a showdown with modern electronics. Finally, Pixar announced a new original film, Hoppers, releasing in 2026, and revealed Incredibles 3 as being in the works.

Following this, Disney Animation took the stage to unveil new footage for Zootopia 2 and announce that Ke Huy Quan will join the cast for the sequel. Concept art was also released for Frozen 3, with a fourth film teased as a possibility.

As the panel entered its second half, Lucasfilm took the stage to release the new trailer for Skeleton Crew. The Star Wars series from Jon Watts follows a group of kids on a galaxy-spanning adventure and releases on December 3. Concept art also debuted for the second season of Andor and the next Star Wars film, The Mandalorian and Grogu. Filming might have just begun, but director Jon Favreau unveiled some initial footage.

Marvel arrived next, with Kevin Feige showcasing new footage for Ironheart and Daredevil Born Again, both arriving on Disney Plus next year. A new trailer for Agatha All Along, starring Kathryn Hahn, debuted online. Finally, Comic-Con footage from Captain America: Brave New World and The Fantastic Four: First Steps was again shown.

Finally, Disney’s live-action department made significant announcements to close the panel. First, a shockingly early teaser for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, whose second season just entered production, debuted. Exclusive first looks at Lilo and Stitch and Tron: Ares also debuted. Disney released a second trailer for Mufasa: The Lion King and a first teaser for the remake of Snow White.

Overall, there are a lot of major exciting announcements from D23 this year, and there are sure to be more in the future.
