Victoria Monét and John Gaines Announce Their Split in a New Joint Statement
Amid speculation, Victoria Monét took to social media to confirm that she and her boyfriend, personal trainer John Gaines, have split up after going public with their relationship in 2020.

“We spent the last 10 months trying to respectfully and privately navigate the fact that we are no longer in a relationship. Though we still completely adore and respect each other, we are not a couple anymore. There was no infidelity, toxic behavior nor drama,” they wrote in their statement.
The former couple shared that they hadn’t planned on releasing a statement, but decided to do so to put an end to the false narratives.
“We originally preferred to keep this out of the public (as announcing this publicly is sure to make pain resurface), but it is becoming more and more difficult to suppress. Yes, we have seen all of the questions and extremely false accusations of our origin story, and we have thought long and hard about whether we owe it to anyone to explain where we are as we heal, since we understand how social media can magnify the truth or run far with untruths,” they continued.
The couple, who welcomed their daughter Hazel Monét in February 2021, emphasized that she will continue to be their top priority.
“We have an incredible daughter to raise for life and that is undoubtedly our number 1 priority forever. No relationship status can remove or replace that fact. We are committed to doing the inner work and trust that God will place us both where we belong in due time,” they added.
Monét, who rose to fame as a songwriter, is particularly recognized for her collaborations with Ariana Grande, However, the singer achieved her solo breakthrough this past year, winning three GRAMMYs for her 2023 album Jaguar II.
Despite the breakup, the GRAMMY winner is not slowing down, as she prepares to release the deluxe version of the award-winning album.
