Ariana Grande is the first artist in the United States this year to achieve the feat of having a number-one album, song, and film within a single year.

In 2024, Grande has shown she can excel in any arena she chooses. Earlier this year, she released her single “Yes, And?” as the lead track from her critically acclaimed seventh studio album, Eternal Sunshine. The song debuted at Number One on the Billboard Hot 100, marking her eighth chart-topping hit. This milestone also tied her with Taylor Swift for the most number one debuts by a female artist.

After a summer of intense scrutiny and negative press surrounding her personal life, Grande shifted the focus back to what matters most to her: the music. Determined to prove her enduring ability to achieve mainstream success despite the challenges, she released Eternal Sunshine on March 8.

The album debuted at number one, selling over 227,000 copies in its first week, marking her sixth chart-topping album. At the time of its release, Eternal Sunshine boasted the highest first-week sales of the year, reaffirming Grande’s status as a dominant force in the music industry.

The streak of chart-toppers didn’t end there. “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love),” the second single from Eternal Sunshine, debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Grande’s ninth chart-topping single.

Both Eternal Sunshine and “We Can’t Be Friends” simultaneously dominated the charts, holding the top spots on the Billboard 200 and Hot 100, respectively. To date, Eternal Sunshine remains the only album released in 2024 to produce multiple number one singles.

Grande has now made her film debut as Galinda in the highly anticipated film adaptation of Wicked, earning glowing reviews for her portrayal of the iconic character. The film debuted at number one at the box office, raking in an estimated $114 million domestically during its opening weekend. This achievement solidifies Grande’s status as a powerhouse, earning her simultaneous number ones in both film and music.
