Lady Gaga Releases New Christmas Classic With a Rock Twist
Pop superstar Lady Gaga gave her “Little Monsters” an early Christmas gift with a rendition of the Christmas song “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”
As a surprise, the “Disease” singer released the cover of the timeless Christmas classic on all streaming services. The singer-songwriter put a soulful rock twist on the holiday classic. The song opens up with electric guitars and scattering before the singer begins singing the first line of the chorus as the sound of drums and organ riffs plays in the background.
Gaga’s cover of the song follows a long list of renditions of the Christmas classic written by Haven Gillespie and J. Fred Coots. The most popular rendition of the song comes from the Jackson 5 and Bruce Springsteen. However, others have followed the musical legends with the rendition, such as Mariah Carey, Justin Bieber, and Michael Buble.
The 13-time Grammy-winning artist’s recording follows her appearance on the Apple TV special, A Carpool Karaoke Christmas, featuring Zane Lowe performing with the artist and her band. Dua Lipa and Chappell Roan also made appearances in the special.
The rendition is considered to be Gaga’s fourth holiday release to be released on all streaming services, dating back to her first release with Space Cowboy, “Christmas Tree,” followed by a “Very Gaga Holiday” in 2011, and finally, “Winter Wonderland” with Tony Bennett in 2014. The singer in 2013 starred in the ABC holiday special Lady Gaga and the Muppets Holiday Spectacular.
Once again, Lady Gaga has made a holly jolly Christmas song with a twist of the Gaga special. You can listen to Lady Gaga’s rendition of “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” below.
