Jennie Teases a Bold New Sound With Ruby
BLACKPINK’s Jennie is building anticipation for her debut solo album, Ruby, which will be released through her self-established label, Odd Atelier, on March 7. In January, she dropped a stunning visualizer for her single “ZEN,” following it up with a teaser image and video for “Love Hangover,” her collaboration with Dominic Fike, released on January 31.

“ZEN” is the second single from Jennie’s upcoming Ruby album. The visualizer, directed by Cho Gi-Seok, contains breathtaking visuals featuring muted tones to vibrant hues and a dynamic wardrobe with both contemporary fashion and traditional attire that reflects a fusion of past and present. The rich visual experience complements the song’s powerful lyrics, “Nobody gon’ move my soul, move my aura, my matter.”

The video follows the couple through a series of romantic dates, each inevitably leading to Jennie’s tragic end. Both the visuals and the lyrics explore the difficulty of walking away from a connection that keeps pulling you back, highlighting the painful cycle of love and the risk of heartbreak: “We say it’s over / But I keep f–ing with you / And every time I do, I wake up with this love hangover.”

The highly anticipated album will feature 15 tracks, including her October 2024 single “Mantra,” and collaborations with music’s biggest names, such as Dua Lipa, Childish Gambino, Doechii, FKJ, and Kali Uchis. Alongside the album, the singer has announced “The Ruby Experience,” a three-city tour stopping in Los Angeles, New York, and Seoul, that will celebrate the release of the album.
